The net effect of this problem is causing mis-fire codes, power loss problems and very rough running when cold.
The remedy is not pleasant...Removal of the intake manifold may be necessary in order to access the tops of the valves. Each cylinder must be placed at TDC so the valves can be soaked with a special cleaner and physically scrubbed with a steel brush.
This can easily require 6 hours of labor....
